New Roles for Traditional Birth Attendants

For millennia, babies have been bought into this world with the help of traditional birth attendants, commonly known as “TBAs”. However, many countries are replacing TBAs with trained midwives in an effort to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, as well as to improve health outcomes.

In Cambodia, TBAs are highly respected members of their communities. ADRA has partnered with a local NGO to train TBAs as health advocates and promoters.
